Meet Dave Crawford

Dave Crawford is the producer, recording engineer and musician behind Plastic Tree Studios in Northampton. He works directly with artists on recording, production, mixing and mastering.

His recording journey began with a four-track Tascam Portastudio in his parents’ garage, before studying music production, performance and writing at the University of Northampton. As a musician himself, Dave brings both a performer’s perspective and technical experience to each session.

Dave was awarded Producer of the Year at the Northamptonshire Music Awards in 2023 and 2024. His own music and client projects have received national radio airplay, including BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, Talksport and Radio X.

Whether you’re recording for the first time or developing your next release, you’ll work with Dave to understand your aims, explore ideas and bring out the best in your music.

The Studio

Plastic Tree Studios is based in Abington, Northampton. Founded in 2018, the business moved into its current studio in 2022.

The acoustically treated space combines analogue equipment, digital recording tools and a range of instruments for recording, production, mixing and mastering. You can work with Dave in person at the studio or send your recordings online for mixing and mastering.
